Newly Published Paperback Guide Book to Nikon Coolpix P520 from White Knight Press Fills Continuing Demand for Printed Information by Users of Advanced Compact Cameras

White Knight Press, located near Richmond, has been publishing guides to higher-end small cameras since 2009, producing full-color instructional books about models such as the Leica D-Lux series, the Panasonic Lumix LX models, and the Sony DSC-RX100, as well as models from Fujifilm, Canon, and Nikon. Although all of the publisher's books are available in digital versions such as PDF, ePub, and Kindle, the small company has found a surprising demand by camera users for books they can hold in their hands as they work through the many features of today's complex cameras. In recognition of the continuing demand for printed camera guides, White Knight Press has released the paperback edition of its newest book, Photographer's Guide to the Nikon Coolpix P520: Getting the Most from Nikon's Superzoom Digital Camera. This 402-page book by Alexander White, like earlier titles in the author's series of guide books, is designed to cut through the complications of this sophisticated camera and give users a head start in mastering its functions. The book explains the workings of the Coolpix P520's numerous controls, menus, and shooting modes in language that is plain and precise, giving photographers the information they need to start capturing excellent still images and videos with a minimum of delay. The new book provides guidance to beginning and intermediate photographers not only about how to accomplish things with the Coolpix P520, but when and why to use certain features. The book does not assume any specialized knowledge by the reader as it explains topics such as autofocus, manual focus, depth of field, flash settings, aperture priority, shutter priority, HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography, and macro photography. The book also includes a detailed discussion of techniques for getting excellent results with the camera's phenomenal superzoom lens, which has a maximum optical focal length of 1000mm. The book's more than 300 full-color photographs illustrate the camera's controls and menus, and include examples of the images that can be created using the many special settings of the camera, including the Picture Control settings, which let the photographer alter the color processing of images; the Scene and Special Effects shooting modes, with options that are optimized for various subjects, including landscapes, portraits, and action shots; and the camera's strong array of features for continuous shooting and interval shooting. The Coolpix P520 guide book also goes beyond the realm of everyday photography, providing introductions to more advanced topics such as infrared photography, street photography, and macro photography. The book includes a full discussion of the video recording abilities of the Coolpix P520, which can shoot high-definition (HD) video with stereo sound, and which is able to record short clips of high-speed video at rates up to 4 times normal speed. In three appendices, the book provides details about accessories that can be used with the P520, including cases, filter adapters, flash, and Nikon's Wireless Mobile Adapter; sets forth a list of useful web sites and other resources for further information; and includes a special section of "quick tips" with insights into how to take advantage of the camera's features in the most efficient ways possible. The book includes a detailed Table of Contents and a 17-page Index so the reader can quickly find needed information about any particular feature or aspect of the camera. The book is available for $9.95 in PDF, Kindle, and ePub formats for download through http://www.whiteknightpress.com. The paperback version is available for $24.95 through the same site or from Amazon.com.

Plan Ahead for Summer Marketing

Memorial Day is two weeks away. As the weather changes, your marketing should be changing, too. Here are three ways to adapt campaigns for the laid-back summer news cycle: 1) Use proactive publicity campaigns The news cycle tends to slow down during the summer months. This presents an opportunity to reach out to journalists with proactive pitches. Reporters still need to produce content and may be looking for stories. Avoid releasing major news during the summer. Journalists, customers and other key audiences may be on vacation and not adhering to their normal schedules. That being said, if you are struggling to get into the news, this downtime may present an opportunity to be heard while your competitors are "sleeping at the wheel." The summer is an ideal time to build media relationships with relevant trend stories, customer success cases, industry insight from your CEO and the like. When things pick back up in September, reporters will remember you. 2) Focus on social Your customers may be on vacation or working flex schedules, but you can still keep them engaged. Summer social media ideas might include: Creating a Twitter hashtag for customers to tweet their summer plans Inviting customers to share their best summer pictures on Facebook or Instagram Challenging customers to share a picture of themselves using your product or service while out of the office, if applicable Introduce these campaigns a few weeks ahead of time through social channels and emails to get your customers ready to participate. 3) Publish bite-sized content Although customers might not be at their desks, they'll still be checking their tablets and smartphones for email and social updates. Make sure your content is optimized for smaller screens. Create bite-sized content that gets to the point and gives customers the option to click through for more information Don't let the marketing momentum you've been building up all year fizzle out over the summer. Keep your brand in the minds of both press and customers and you'll hit the ground running come September.
